From 20th February 2009 until 22nd February 2009, Phangan Island will be the stage for the Phangan Film Festival, a totally unique event that will see many entries from around the world.

Entrance to the festival is a very reasonable 300 Baht per night or 700 Baht for the whole event. The band is close to completing pre-production on their forthcoming album set for release in early 2009.

Drummer Andrew Haug comments, “We’re really excited to be playing in Bangkok, its one of my favorite cities after visiting there 4 times and checking out their great established Metal scene, I’m sure we’ll fit right in amongst it all.

As far as the new record goes, we’re nearly done! It will contain 8 tracks, we’ve approached this record with a new mindset of openness and experimentation but don’t worry there is still plenty of “tough riffs and beats” in there too ha – Horns!

Let us kick-off our first Theme Club Party on Friday 23rd January with a big theme:

New York, New York

What comes to mind when you read this name? What feelings come to you? Are you thinking Manhattan, Staten Island and Queens or thinking Brooklyn or the Bronx? Are you thinking high – fashion or wallstreet? Or are you just thinking the most happening and awesome city in world??

Who comes to mind first? Frank Sinatra, Liza Minelli or Puff Daddy? King of Queens, Friends or Sex and the City??

Think anything or any extreme and you will probably find it in New York – Music, Life, Lifestyle.

And in that it has a lot in common with Bangkok. Bangkok is also vibrant, happening, colourful (it is!) and the home of our Lifestyle.

So… we decided this should be the theme for our first Theme Club party in 2009 and our 14th Theme Club party total:

New York, New York

It’s very convenient that the location we chose for it looks like it was standing in New York – it certainly has a lot of style and is brrrrand new: P35

It´s located on Petchburi Soi 35 near Soi Chidlom/ Siam Commercial Bank Headbranch and let us tell you: it´s soo nice there you will only believe it if you go see for yourself! A lot of work has been put into it with very much love for the details.

It’s a pretty large place so there will be enough space for everyone – the sound system is a new approach (hanging subwoofers) and it´s colourful, tasteful, just nice.

The dress code shall be anything that resembles New York: Glam & Glitter or Fashion Victim. Broker or Urban Style Bronx, Broadway or Strip-club, whatever fits to the many, many faces New York has!!

Best costumes will win prizes – watch out.

Music will be from our Theme Club resident Florian de Lux, Stefanie Love and as special guest upon public (and our) request: Superstar Panda a.k.a. Aung

Entry will be 300 Baht including 1 drink and we’re gonna go laaaate (maybe 4am).

Remember, Theme Club is a monthly party from friends for friends. So we hope to see as many of you as possible and bring your friends along – the more the marrier!!

Coming up on the 7th Feb 09 is a classical and jazz concert from one of the most gifted composers in Thailand. All of the 26 pieces played by a large symphonic orchestra were written by him and will be conducted by him.

He wrote 5 of the songs for the star-soprano Catherine Harsono who will also perform on the concert.

The concert will be 2x 45 minutes and the venue is very close to the Saphan Taksin BTS station in a very nice international school concert hall. This is what he has to say:

I am Francois, french composer. I make a concert in Shrewsbury
International School next 7th of February of my own compositions.

The style will be classical and jazz. I will conduct an orchestra of
22 musicians. String orchestra, oboe, piano, percussions and jazz bass.

I will play the piano in the jazz part.

For that event, I have composed 5 songs for Catherine Harsono, well
known soprano in Bangkok.

Many classical pieces of the concert have been recorded in a CD: “The

A strange array of Celebs have been spotted in Rehab – from Grunge rocker Brian Molko (Placebo ) and Alex from the Chicks on Speed to the uber-babe violinists Bond and High pitched kitch king Leo Sayer.

Rehab was the capital’s first ever Electro Club. People were strutting their stuff to Artists like Scissor Sisters and Felix the Housecat years before other Bangkok clubs caught on.

Rehab was the birthplace of Bangkok band Futon. DJs Bee & David Coker couldn’t get hold of enough new electro tracks quick enough in those days so they decided to form a band and make their own.

Rehab has different themes every month. Among the best were: The hacienda Night – bed was decorated in the spirit of the legendary Manchester club and Futon played electro versions of Happy Mondays tracks. Back to school – was it just an excuse to dress up in the uniforms – of course! Medical Mayhem Nurses and young doctors, always a big favorite.
