Many Bangkok floating Markets were formed as a result of the easy water transport accessiblity in Bangkok. 30 to 40 years ago the city use to have thousands of cannels which made water transportation easy and popular. Unfortunatley many of those water cannels have disappeared due to development.
The popular Floating markets exist outside of Bangkok and are worth visiting. There are two main places to visit ‘Damnoen Saduak’ floating market and ‘Amphawa market’.
As most visitors and tourist in Thailand have noticed it is often too hot to do a lot during daytime. That is why the two markets operate during the cooler part of the day: morning or evening.
Damnoen Saduak starts to operate in the early morning and is mostly finished around noon. Gives a very nice impression of the Thai culture and how they do there shoppings and socializing in boats on the canels.
Morning Floating Market: Damnoen Saduak

Evening Floating Market: Amphawa Market

Very lively in the evening!
