Hello, Maurice!
.
).
Thank you for your site, it’s very useful and entertaining…Well, I couldn’t restrict myself from chipping in with ideas, as a recent bangkokian
First of all, I like the name of your site. Bangkok Market is the best description of the city I came across. It is a market indeed, Bangkok without markets is like espresso without coffee. So I’ll start from my favourite place, Holy Amulet Market.
I don’t remember the exact name of the road, but its fairly easy to find. It’s just across the road from that alien spaceship landed aka Grand Palace, on the riverside (OK, I’ll try to find the exact name of the street and post it latwer
The best time to go there is weekend morning. Its a pity I cant post here pics from there, let me know if you want me to send them.
You really shouldn’t miss the place. It’s full of holy objects and amulets, very atmospheric, massive and fairly unspoiled by tourists.
well, tip number 2 would be my personal pick: Bangkok chess club (www.bangkokchess.com).
They meet every Tuesday at 19.30 at Bull Head’s pub nearby PhromPong skytrain station. The players are strong, waiters are friendly, draft beer is discounted for p[layers and if you miss pub food and pub atmosphere it’s a great place too!
Players meet and tournaments hold upstairs, in no smoking area.
Hope to see you there.
Cheers and by for now,
Boris.

In any case, its near Ta Chang pier, if you want to come by Chaya Phraya by boat.
Peace.

Here is a link to an interesting article about what Chinese factory workers think of the products they produce for Americans:
Favorite quote:
“Finally, the girls joined hands on the factory floor and began to chant, ‘No more insane flying toys for Western pigs!’
