The leading telecommunication company in Bangkok. Maybe that is why their customers’ service is so chaotic and unfriendly.
Our story: As we moved to another house within Bangkok we were in need of a new local telephone line. Visiting TOT’s website (English version) we discovered that online application for a phone line is avialable. So, that’s what we did: submitted the online application form and afterwards we received a confirmation email with ref number. –> We then called TOT service line: 1100 to check. The reactions from the staff are beautiful! Read about our two weeks of time wasting services:
TOT staff reactions:
-The first couple of times they told us just be patient, someone will call us back.
-Then one said we should call local Bangna office because he does not know. He gave 5 telephone numbers (identical to ones in the email and on their homepage). We tried calling these numbers continuously, at different times and days but yes No answer there.
- A week later we called again to this wonderful service line. This time a girl apologized and she told us not to worry. She gave her name and promised that either she or her boss will call back the next morning. No follow up… of course..
- SO ten days after the submitted form we called and asked to talk to the same staff (see above). not there! But this lady told us not to worry, this is normal.. She even asked us what the reference number is for… Then she calmly explained that there might not be enough phone numbers or ADSL lines available. So it will take time, she said. And we asked how long? “Not sure, sir. Maybe one month, sir.â€
>>At this point we were, of course, highly unsatisfied. So call again.
- This staff told us again to contact TOT Bangna, gave the 5 non-working phone numbers and wanted to hangup. We quickly explained that we dont want 5 non-working phone numbers. She said: “aah, there is another number here, let me give it.â€
So we finally, after 12 days got a hold of TOT Bangna and they said: “no, we cannot check the online applications!†After hanging up we immedialetly called the other provider! byebye = tot ziens. Learning point: Never apply online in Thailand.. do you know any online complaining service?
